FAQ: Advice for new members of the Seahorse Forum

Postby Christine Parker » November 4th, 2015, 11:44 pm

Having been active of various forums on the internet for many years, I would like to offer some advice before you first post to the Seahorse Forum.

As one should do when first posting to any forum, it is recommended that you "lurk" (read and not post) for a while to get a feel of how the forum works. This will give you an opportunity to understand the group's netiquette, rules and dynamics.

Unprovoked abuse or criticism of this forum or its members, and posting spam are the two main reasons that are likely to get you banned from further posting. Forum admin members are vigilant and will remove offending posts as soon as possible. Repeat offenders may face a permanent ban from the Forum.

Always maintain decorum in the Forum! Use temperate, respectful language and please avoid put-downs or abusive comments. You may disagree with a another poster's opinion, but please respect their right to their opinion.

Avoid being judgemental of other's views. We all have the right to hold our own opinions and these may be quite different from those held by other members, especially in areas of gender expression and sexuality.

Avoid posting if you are intoxicated as you may say things that you would not say when sober. Even your web-mistress been guilty of that

Avoid coarse, obscene language: :wtf:

Please, do not get too hung-up about insisting on political correctness.

I'd also add that it is nice to start off by posting in the Introduction forum, and telling members a little bit about yourself. This can help put a bit of context to your posts.
